Bill Cunningham announced this morning on ABC news with
George Stephanopoulos that 'Monroe, Ohio has a MS-13 problem'
This is very troubling and I plan on calling our police department tomorrow in search of answers.

Disregard.
Found an article about arrest of a guy living at a local motel who had 'ties' to MS-13. It was reported on WLWT.com on April 17.
Glad they got the guy.

Well, I guess technically we did have a (singular) MS-13 problem until he was arrested.  The game of semantics.

No chance in hell.
Lying is the new norm.
Too bad he put Monroe in such a negative light.
But here is something fun.
INDIAN HILL HAS AN MS-13 PROBLEM.
There. Now I said the same thing about Mr.Cunninghams neighborhood.

I agree dawg. The damage is done. I would think "all" of Monroe's leaders would demand an apology at minimum. What happened to the ethics in journalism? There should be some kind of punishment for this untruths (a Trumpism). Absolutely no repercussions for lying journalism. The new norm for politics and journalism.

I'm concerned about Monroe's Pizza problems. I think this movement has Sicilian Deep Dish ties.

Monroe wants apology from ‘The Great American’ on gang remark

MONROE
Comments made by a Cincinnati radio personality that Monroe has a gang problem have raised the ire of one city council member.

Monroe Councilman Todd Hickman called out the comments made by conservative 700 WLW radio talk show host Bill Cunningham during a national television program.

Cunningham appeared Sunday on “This Week” with ABC News’ George Stephanopoulos about President Trump’s strong grip on his base.

During an exchange about immigration, Cunningham told Stephanopoulos, “Monroe, Ohio, has an MS-13 problem. Pike County, east of Cincinnati, has an MS-13 marijuana grow operation. If you cut down on illegal immigration, you cut down on criminal aliens and you cut down on heroin. Three thousand Ohioans are going to die this year from heroin overdoses. All of that’s not coming from Tennessee. It’s coming from Guadalajara.”

That comment prompted Hickman to directly ask Police Chief Bob Buchanan if Monroe had an MS-13 gang problem during Tuesday’s council meeting.

“I want to hear this from you. Do we have an MS-13 gang problem?” he asked.

“No, sir, we don’t,” Buchanan said. “… Within the city, there is no indication of a gang problem.”

Buchanan said Cunningham was referencing an arrest April 14 in Monroe by the Butler County Undercover Regional Narcotics Task Force in which agents received information that a person with alleged ties to the MS-13 gang was trafficking drugs in Butler County.

The Butler County Sheriff’s Office said the MS-13 gang, which originated in Los Angeles, heavily recruits members from across the nation, but did not know how many members were in Butler County.

Hickman said comments like that hurt the city in trying to attract families to move to Monroe.

“Cunningham needs to apologize to the city,” Hickman said. “I would expect that.”

This news outlet has reached out to Cunningham for comment.

Will ‘The Great American’ show up at Monroe’s council meeting?
Ed Richter  Staff Writer

MONROE
Just more than two weeks ago, a Cincinnati radio personality claimed on national television that Monroe has a gang problem.

Bill Cunningham of 700 WLW told George Stephanopoulos during an April 23 segment of ABC’s “This Week” television program that “Monroe Ohio has an MS13 gang problem.” Cunningham said he based his comments on news accounts that a person arrested April 14 at a Monroe hotel off Interstate 75 had alleged ties to the violent drug trafficking gang.

That remark drew the ire of Councilman Todd Hickman, who said at the April 25 Monroe City Council meeting that Cunningham owed the city and its residents and businesses an apology. At that meeting, Hickman asked the city’s police chief, Bob Buchanan, if the city had such a problem. Buchanan said he had no indication of that.

When Cunningham had Hickman on his radio show two days later to discuss the issue, he didn’t apologize for the negative comments but said he “mean’t no aspersions against” the city. Toward the end of the interview with Hickman, Cunningham said he and his wife would visit Monroe that weekend. Hickman countered and invited Cunningham to attend council’s May 9 meeting to explain his remarks. Cunningham agreed to attend the meeting.

Cunningham is not listed on tonight’s council agenda to speak, but there is a possibility he could appear during the public comments portion of the meeting.

The Journal-News will have that meeting covered to see if Cunningham appears.

MONROE
“The Great American” Bill Cunningham of 700 WLW was a “no call, no show” at Tuesday night’s Monroe City Council meeting.

During the meeting, Hickman offered a short statement saying, Cunningham “was not a man of his word or a great American. He talks about real people but doesn’t know the real people here.

“He still needs to apologize for his words on television.”
