I like how just yesterday they were denying rumors that he was leaving for Colorado and then today they announce he is going to Tenn. And right before a BOWL GAME! That's low...leaving a team before a bowl game like this. It is really sad that for college football this is hiring season and taking coaches from schools right before a bowl game is acceptable.

Can't blame him for leaving.

I do agree that the hiring season of coaches needs to start the day after the National Chansiomship Game.

GO IRISH

Oh I don't blame him for leaving. I think the timing is really crappy for the team though.

The players are always to ones to get screwed, the coach can have sanctions placed on the program for years and just leave with no penalty for him.

Maybe the future contracts will have a clause that will not let a coach terminate until the season is complete including any post season games that the team has qualified for.

It is the way it is, and the contracts in force are either not applicable, or not enforced. I am amazed UC has been able to reload with quality personnel, and maintain a very competitive level of play for many years and many coaches!

They have replaced Miami as the new Cradle of Coaches. He turned down almost 14 million yesterday. The SEC is just too big, bad, and lucrative to turn down, especially a program with Tennessee's history and potential for greatness.

very nice ZAPP
OSU is 12 - 0 and can't play for the national championship because of some stupid players and a coach no longer on the team.........................

You got that right.  The biggest shame is that the ones being punished weren't even responsible.  Oh well, Urban will be around awhile and recruiting is looking great.

How bout them Irish??  I'd love to see them lay the smack down on the Tide.  (raised Catholic and an Irish fan)

Tennessee asked the Uc AD for permission to talk to Jones about the position, the AD could have said no because he was under contract for 2 more years.  So UC was ok with this!

Thanks Paul

Eh it's common courtesy throughout the sports world for colleges and universities to grant permission like this.
