Average americans, who are against guns, are scared of guns or have no clue about guns need to understand one thing. This is a very important fact that will always be true, in any situation, in any country all over the world. Criminals, crazies and murderers will always have access to guns, no matter how many gun laws or restrictions you put on them. Gun laws only affect the average american who tries to protect their families and people around them. You will not like the way america will become if you start taking guns from the innocent...

Good point. There are already laws against Crazies, Criminals and Murderers owning guns. But. With that said I was at a gun shop today. And you don't have to be one of the aforementioned to be in the 'shouldn't be allowed to own a gun crowd' . Haha

What if I don't like America the way it is NOW?

I'm sorry but you cannot convince me the solution to this is MORE firepower.

That doesn't really mean we should make it easier for them to get them though right?

I mean we accept restrictions and regulations on every other right we have in life. Even the ones that are explicit in the Constitution.

You can't yell fire in a theater, there are libel laws, you have to have a permit to have a protest, you can't practice your religion if it involves sacrifice of animals (or humans) or the use of banned narcotics etc etc

So why are people so unwilling to accept a restriction or regulation on guns? I haven't heard any serious conversation at the national level of actually banning fire arms. Mostly just military style weapons and closing the gun show loophole. What exactly is bad about that?

You don't know the laws already in place do you? It is illegal for these people to own firearms already. Do you wish for another law to make it double illegal?

That's funny coming from you.

Perhaps it's you who needs to find a new place to live.  You are the one who seems to be out of touch with the country and what it wants.

if they are going to put the names and addresses of licensed and legal gun owners in the paper, how about the names and addresses of all Police and Sheriff officers as well.

How about the names and addresses of anyone with a Mental Health issue or an arrest record?

They are confusing the good guys with the bad guys..

If we're going to play, let's make this game fair...

People with mental health issues are not the bad guys. Neither are gun owners of course but let's make sure we don't stigmatize people with mental health issues.

Making blanket generalizations about any group of people is a bad idea.

HIPAA will soon be gone with odumbocare and we all will have access to who the wack jobs in the community are. But if we just went by who votes democrat we would be able to get the same results.

But some how the rabid libtards will say this makes sense!

While the administration makes it easier for legal aliens to get guns, Obama, Holder, and congressional Democrats have expressed a desire to restrict gun sales to American citizens.

CCW laws are great to have, for the most part they allow everyday, good, people to own and carry guns. Carriers are registered with local law enforcement agencies, have taken all the required classes and legally are allowed to carry a firearm. Now, im not saying everyone that takes these classes should be allowed to carry a firearm, but if they do, they are registered along with their weapon. These people usually aren't willing to give up all this information if they intend to commit a crime.  And Im sorry you dont like the way things are, but ill still take my chances here in the good ole USA over anywhere else, anyday...

That was my point Matt. All people that own guns are being attacked (name in paper) because that's the cool thing to do right now. All I'm saying is that if we are to be fair, then all people with Mental Health issues should also be considered "bad guys" and their names should be in the paper as well.
I work in the Mental Health field so I know a lot more than most people about their issues. Most of the clients live close to normal lives and are no threat to society. The same can be said for gun owners.

They do release the names of bad guys via police reports, wanted posters, news etc, just as they have released the names of the mentally ill that have committed crimes over the years. People like Manson, Bundy and now Lanza are just a few of the ill that you speak of that had their identities protected until they committed horrible crimes.

While I completely get what your saying about the vast majority living near normal lives, some are dangerous and are kept hidden until it's too late. Someone knew Lanza had the ability to be dangerous, at the minimum I think law enforcement agencies in his area should have known as well. I think that every state that has concealed carry should be required to list those deemed dangerous, or that have the potential to be dangerous with law enforcement to slow down their ability to get guns.

Congress will not pass any gun control legislation. Period! If any regulation comes, it will be by Presidential decree for the Kingdom, and that will not go over very well, though we have just the guy in the White House willing to do it. An examination of executive orders would make this mere child's play when compared to the job/economy killing edicts he, and his cabinet have issued so far to date. Pravda keeps the devastation under wraps, and no one seems to care, as long as the checks keep coming.
"Never let a crisis go to waste" should be on the Presidential Seal.
