At least two $3000/yr Monroe School Board seats have no candidates at this time!

Monroe's current school board members have not pulled petitions are Brett Guido, Leslie Stone and Aimee Earl. While there is still time to pull a petition, all other elected candidate seats for Monroe have been pulled.

At this time there are three school board seats and three council seats expiring this year, all candidates are running without competition.

Can we really be missing the candidates? Missing the politics? I wouldn't call it missing. We're just a little short. That's all.

Each election year I am disappointed that so few people are willing to run for city council, Lemon Township, or school board. It is especially disappointing to rediscover that the detractors who are so critical whenever anything happens that they disagree with go into hiding about now.

Like cockroaches scattering when a light is turned on, the detractors disappear or go silent in July, reappearing after the until the nomination petition period is closed out in early August. If you don't like the direction the city, township, or school district is being run, this is your chance to effect change.
Tom Birdwell - Opinions written here are mine alone, and may not reflect the views of other school board members.

A person can be critical and not have the desire to be a politician. It's not as if every person who is unhappy with the leadership must seek it out or their opinion is somehow invalidated. There are many reasons not to run for office: time, privacy, a lack of desire, a lack of the necessary leadership skills, etc. But that doesn't mean we can't all voice our opinions.

I don't criticize our leaders much, but I vote and I send an email every once in a while. I would never run for office. Never ever ever. Ever.

Yeah I am guessing if I ran you would have dirt bags seething at the mouth crying about how mean I am. Plus I would vote to kill about every bit of spending in that liberal infested cesspool.

Tom understand just because somebody doesn't run for office doesn't mean that that are not allowed to question officials or voice opinions.

You question why I don't run.

Let me put it to you as nice as possible.

1. I'm no politician.

2 Refuse to sit on a board and be told I don't care about the school because I won't vote yes for everything and anything the school wants. (Not going to be the fall guy)

3. Been told I distort information when I ask for truthful answers and rarely get them.

4. I don't have the time to devote to the school.

5. Maybe the current candidates there isn't an issue with did you ever think of that?

By the way Tom I nor anybody else is a cockroach because they won't pull a petition.

Finally my voice is heard by my vote!!!

Dannyboy you are so correct.

Why do you need something to cry about, go look in the mirror that should be enough!

I am not crying now nor have I ever.

Myself and others would simply just love to see you run.

I can see you have no true retort so you resort to personal insults.   I'll take that to mean there aren't any major road blocks to you running.

I look forward to this strategy continuing to play out as you hit the campaign trail.  Do you run under your pseudo name or real name?  Either way it will be well worth it.
