OTHER FACILITY OPPORTUNITIES: Mr. Brock said the City is working together with the YMCA. Dr. Cagwin
said we looked at the possibility of adding to the elementary school where the YMCA would put a
pool.  Dr. Cagwin said we hope the Council would see that as a possibility.  Dr. Cagwin said the
City might provide funds to expand the gym to help share with outside community groups. Mr. Brock
said we have not completed our parks and recreation plan, and we need to expand community use
areas.   Mr. Brock said we talked about sharing  custodial  and  maintenance   services.   The
YMCA  was   interested   because   they   could  do   the programming, if the City or School built
the facility.

Mr. Carpenter said his concern is that the YMCA would take over youth athletics and it would not go
over well. Mr. Grant said we have the Say Soccer program and others. Mr. Guido said if it was
offered, it would be up to the community to accept it or not accept it.

Mr. Guido thanked Mr. Brock and the City team for working on the Bicentennial Commons Park.  Mr.
Brock said his hope if to have everything down and safe for them to walk around the park, and be
well used. Mr. Clark said he would have to see the numbers to decide about partnering with outside
agencies. Mr. Guido said we are here to educate students, and other programs are on the periphery.
Mr. Grant asked if there is a chance for the community pool to come back and others said that is
not possible.

Mr. Guido emphasized these meetings are very important. Mrs. Hale said you have to work together to
get anything done. Mr. Grant said we work for a common goal. All agreed.

Has anyone thought about hooking up with one of the many hospitals to co-sponsor a Y?  There are so many in the area now and all trying to get patients.  UC Hospital, Kettering Medical Center, Mercy Hospital, Children's Hospital, Christ Hospital and Atrium. That's a lot of hospitals all vying for people and name recognition.

I would be against the Y taking over all youth activities like soccer, baseball, and softball
