I am glad to hear about this coming to Monroe. Our boys used to go to safety town in Middletown.

Chief Buchanan reported that Officer Joshua King is in the process of starting a “Safety Town.”
It is for pre-school and kindergarten children. There will be a mat with replica buildings and pedal
cars. He will be seeking donations with a goal for 100% funding and has about 25% right now.
They hope to begin this in July and it can be used indoors and outdoors. The mat is in two sections
and the cost is $6,000. School Resource Officer, Bradley Jackson, is working with the school on
the construction of the buildings; however, if that doesn’t work out police staff will attempt to
construct them.

Mr. Clark mentioned that the National Honor Society could possibly assist and Mr. Brock noted
that the Boy Scouts may also be willing to help with this.
