good morning everyone,

I need some input. I've posted on all of the forums I belong, as well as hit up my friends on facebook and co-workers.

I'm in the middle of writing a fiction novel. It's sort of an alternate reality setting, regarding the future, and is dystopian in nature.

dys·to·pi·a

/dɪsˈtoʊpiə/ Show Spelled [dis-toh-pee-uh] Show IPA
noun
a society characterized by human misery, as squalor, oppression, disease, and overcrowding.
Compare utopia.

I'm about half way through writing it, but still don't have a good title.

I think I have one, but I want input and suggestions if you would!

My thought:  Burning The Horizon, series 1

Quick summary:

Future, world governments have failed and countries have joined together as different factions/governments, USA divided into numerous small sectors/countries - each with own ideology and political structure, religion as whole plays an important part, science plays a big role, war plays a big role, bioterrorism/epidemic plays a big role.

There is a hero, and an anti-hero. Numerous villains, all sorts of interconnected stories. Starts with a background on each "sector" of the US and describes challenges and successes of each, then builds on characters, then combines into story and saga.

That is pretty cool, congrats. I don't have a lot of time to think about it right now but what immediately came to mind was some sort of opposite or continuation. I thought of an early 1900's book I read in a college history class called O Pioneers! by Willa Cather, set in the Nebraska plains with all of the toil and trouble of the frontier. This sounds like an updated modern "frontier". If you have not read it, I recommend it. Anyway for your book No Pioneers! or the The Pioneers. Tying it somehow to the classic novel might get you a look from an editor somewhere. Just a 2 minute opinion, will give some more thought.

It has already been written. It is called the Holy Bible. Read the Book of Revelation. It is the last book in the Bible.

Sounds interesting but it does sound a bit like Hunger Games. Why are you thinking 'Burning The Horizon' for the title? Does it tie into the story line in some way?

I wish it was possible to roll my eyes harder than I currently am right now.

Yep. Thanks for ZERO input MFD....Although I guess I could call it "The Bible" and get massive sales from people buying in protest...makes sense.
