Seems pretty cut and dry to me.  Population grows, more kids in school, school building stays the same size, school population outgrows school.  I'm waiting for all the naysayers to come out of the woodwork.  "Do we really need it?"  "Can't kids just sit on laps?"  "Back in my day, we didn't get new schools.  We walked uphill both ways..."

From Wikipedia:
"..As of the 2010 Census, the city population was 12,442, up from 4,008 in 1990."

At that growth rate, Monroe would sit at 38,624 in the year 2030.  But I'm sure a little old school building from 1954 would still be fine.

I think the zoning will limit the Monroe residential population to about 18000.

It is too early in the information gathering process to form an opinion either way and so I want to ask questions. PRIMARY grades now include "pre-school"? REALLY? Isn't this a glorified/government "baby-sitting"service"? How much "classroom" (nap taking) space would be freed up by eliminating "Pre-School (wink-wink)?   I might agree that the current 60+ year facility needs to be replaced had I not attended -in 1958-62 - a Parochial high school in a Public School building( originally built in the 1880's)condemned by the city of Elgin in 1940! I would like to vote for a levy..... but not one with a lot of "pork". Pre-school as a tax payer subsidy?..

I automatically "thank" any post mentioning bacon.  It's some sort of reflex.
