Fears that Barack Obama would use a lame duck second term to eviscerate gun rights are fueling record firearms sales once again, with gun store owners labeling Obama, “the best gun salesmen we’ve had.”

Despite a new law allowing carrying without a permit, concealed-firearm permits in the fiercely independent state of Wyoming in the last quarter have smashed records set in previous years.

“People are definitely scared of a president who has voted when he was a senator against guns,” Anthony Bouchard, director of the Wyoming Gun Owners Association in Cheyenne told the Wyoming Star Tribune. “[If Obama gets re-elected] he’s in a lame-duck session and he can do the things he wants to do. That’s what we’re afraid of.”

Irvin Walker, owner of Triggers Gun Shop in Mills, called Obama, “the best gun salesmen we’ve had,” and said he was expecting another wave of customers after November 6 if Obama defeats Mitt Romney, despite the fact that sales are already riding high.

Gun and ammunition prices are expected to soar should Obama secure a second term, with rifles predicted to double in cost just as they did in the aftermath of Obama’s 2008 victory. (continued)

nothing like some good old fear mongering from the conservative right.

If you can't use it to win the election then you might as well use it to profit from more gun sales.

Haha can someone give me a list of all of the things Obama has done to curtail gun rights in this country?

Like specifics? Like maybe some laws he signed or executive orders he produced?

Also, what exactly, as a President with a divided gov't, can he do to curtail gun rights in a lame duck term?

actually it's kind of like deja vu.

this same exact thing happened 4 years ago and as Matt pointed out Obama really didn't change much at all as far as guns go.

but sure...stir up BS over something he will never end up doing.  If it furthers the neo con agenda, sells guns and makes a profit that's all you have to worry about.

If I could get the wife to believe that I was so upset over the government that I needed to buy myself a new toy and it worked 4 years ago, why wouldn't I do it again?  I heard Obama is going to outlaw motorcycles!  Big smile

...and gun controls like the one in the picture are fine.  IMHO I want my kids to understand guns, be comfortable around them and know how to handle them safely.  That way when one of their little knucklehead friends runs across one somewhere, they can educate the friend and maybe save someone's life.  We might also shoot some trap or hunt or whatever, but none of those activities require a machine gun.

Now between you and I, I would kinda like to have a tank and run over stuff.  Lamp  I'm gonna tell the wife Obama is taking away tanks!

After Obama win, U.S. backs new U.N. arms treaty talks

By Louis Charbonneau

UNITED NATIONS | Wed Nov 7, 2012 6:48pm EST

UNITED NATIONS (Reuters) - Hours after U.S. President Barack Obama was re-elected, the United States backed a U.N. committee's call on Wednesday to renew debate over a draft international treaty to regulate the $70 billion global conventional arms trade.

U.N. delegates and gun control activists have complained that talks collapsed in July largely because Obama feared attacks from Republican rival Mitt Romney if his administration was seen as supporting the pact, a charge Washington denies.

The National Rifle Association, the powerful U.S. interest group, strongly opposes the arms treaty and had endorsed Romney.
