Interesting email I received today. Thought I would share it with you.

The activist Emma Goldman once said, “If voting changed anything, they’d make it illegal.”

Well, about that…

Voting has changed a lot since the early 1900s when Emma Goldman uttered those famous words, which might explain why folks like Donald Trump, Mike Pence, and Kris Kobach are bending over backwards to make voting illegal for so many of us.

But we at the 84 Fund aren’t scared. We’re fighting back against these attacks, but with President Trump’s Advisory Commission on Election Integrity in full swing, we know they won’t stop anytime soon. That’s why we need your help -- donate $15 or more right now to help us fight back against Kris Kobach and his voter suppression agenda today.

It’s still true that white men hold much of the power in our country -- four times that of women and people of color -- and women hold about 29% of the elected offices in this country. And while men of color account for only 7% of elected officials, we can’t forget the election of Barack Obama to our country’s highest office. (I mean, we know Republicans sure haven’t forgotten.)

Women and people of color are voting and stepping up to run to change what representation looks like in this country -- and for folks like Kris Kobach, that certainly can be scary. That’s why they’re doing everything they can to stop it, from purging voter rolls to instituting illegal ID checks at the ballot, or even running background checks on voters. At the 84 Fund, we are working to secure voting rights for all, not to limit them.

It’ll be a long fight, and not an easy one, but it’s one we can win -- because we have to. The freedom to vote is what this country was founded on, and we can’t let that go now.

Join the 84 Fund to protect voting rights for all Americans -- donate $15 or more right now to fund the fight against these attacks on our democracy.

Thank you for your help!

If you are in the country illegally I don't think you should have the right to vote.

As a LEGAL U.S. citizen, I have voted in EVERY local, state and federal election since I turned 21 (legal age back then) If my candidate-female or male-wins...GREAT!
If not....hmmmm..the legal votes(SHOULD)decide. Whether I like or support the winner becomes a moot point.
And are you suggesting that a male (or female, for that matter)is innatetly incapable to vote on issues regarding the opposite sex??

I have voted for male candidates that I hoped/trusted to represent me as well as any woman would/could. For the most part (sigh😕) I have not been dissapointed.
