I know this has been brought up on this forum before but yesterday my 7 year old son asked me why he saw not 1, not 2, not 3 but a total of 4 police cars (I believe 1 was a state and 3 Monroe) from Traders World to just past the fire station on Rt4 north. Even he at such a young age realized just how silly this is, is it ever going to change? That equates to easily $200+/hour to keep that going with manpower and equipment which is probably why an earlier topic showed the high incidence of ticket issuance vs. cars pulled over. The only area even close to being this silly is on 675 around Fairborn and Beavercreek. As citizens why are we letting this happen?

Two Rules in Monroe

Rule #1 - Obey all rules.
Rule #2 - Don't speed.

I saw the same thing but I believe the two Monroe Cruisers were on a call as they went north into the South Middletown Area. Then I saw an OSP cruiser flying north after a speeder. And then another heading north with normal speed. After those I did also see a Butler Co. Deputy in his car heading south. But I believe all but the Mornoe cruisers were on seperate missions. And If there were not so much crime we would not need as many officers to protect us.

Seriously?  It amazes me that people question things that they have no idea or knowledge of.   If you think the Police are not doing what they are supposed to do, call the Chief.

The mission was to sit and wait for someone to screw up, up and down 63 and rt 4. As far as calling the chief, I would be just one call so hopefully if others see this and also call then my work is done. Tell yourself it is ok, mission critical, etc all you want, I will not.

My point was how do any of us know that there was not a legitimate reason for them being there? High number of accidents, report of something, etc. etc.  I am not lobbying for them to sit just waiting for someone to screw up but maybe a phone call before posting this would have clarified things for you??  Perhaps they were instructed to be there?  IDK just my thoughts

Sorry sft, I think I misread what you were saying. You are right, in the end they take orders and go where they are told. My sample size is getting pretty large, 4 years of trips from Engles Corner to Mcclure Rd 4-5 times per week each way. Knock on wood, thus far I am clean man!

So your seven year old son said "Dad I see not 1, not 2, not 3, but 4 police cars. That's so silly."   That's very impressive.

So what you are saying is from Traders World to just past the fire station on Rt4 there were 3 Monroe police.  Sounds to me like the dept.  has their officers covering the majority of the town, and officers could be at any service call in good time since they are all spread out on the major road thru town.  Peolpe always love to bash on the police.  Well the ones who are nice and safe from behind their desk.

Give them a break....

It's not like we have a lot of violent crime for them to tackle.

How do you know that?  Just because you do not know of any, there must be none.

I'm sure there are many factors. But this is a very low crime community. So the cops patrol and do traffic. What else is there for them to do? I'm glad they're out there.

for what it's worth I had a visitor here from out of town and he commented on how many cops we have in Monroe.

whenever we went out we would pass at least 1 cop with someone pulled over.

he thought it was ridiculous.

If there is one thing Monroe has more of than patrolman. It's patrol cars.

How bout we cut our police in half.... Then all the criminals will know that the houses and communities in Monroe are easy targets.

Then maybe we will have less citizens complaining of the police controlling traffic.  And less complaints from people visiting our town.

We will have more crime, more houses getting burglarized, but at least people wont be getting citations.

Geez,   Some people just like to complain....

Just a couple of months ago a lady was murdered and stuffed in her car trunk. I know they worked very hard on that, but it illustrates that we have more crime and more violent crime than we believe.
