Will the city reschedule Trick-or-Treat if we are going to get the weather that is predicted for tomorrow night....high winds, hail, thunderstorms, heavy rains could also turn to tornado watch/warnings.  Channel 12 is saying unfortunately this weather is to hit between 5-9 and will be a dangerous cell and urging all city officials to rethink the kids safety...

Eaton has already rescheduled for Friday night....

Just curious.

I doubt it....
Halloween is the 31st....

Do we reschedule other traditions based on weather? I'm genuinely asking, not criticising...

It makes perfect sense to move this outdoor celebration to another night. After all this is supposed to be fun and safe. Rainy, cold dark nights are neither.

I agree....and I think it should be rescheduled. I seem to recall a few years ago when Monroe rescheduled trick-or-treating due to a Friday night football game. So....I think we can make the same change due to severe weather.

Does anyone know who we need to contact to change Trick-or-Treating to Friday night?  It is looking pretty bad weatherwise for tomorrow night.  It would be a shame for all of the kids to miss out on the fun.

I have emailed the mayor about considering postponing this tradition.  If you want to do that as well, his email address is mayor@monroeohio.org.

Thanks

HERE IS THE RESPONSE IT GOT REGARDING POSTPONING/RESCHEDULING:

It is being weighed with timing etc. I expect there will be something on city website by tonight. Please check that but I will let you know as soon as I do. Thank you,

There is nothing at all wrong with the TRADITION, it does not have to be canceled!  If there is bad weather just re-schedule.  If you do not like the tradition of beggars night, then don't participate!

Trick or Treating is no different than Math or Science or Fossils.
A tool of the Devil trying to trick us.

I for one think it should be rescheduled for the 31st of Never.

Look at it this way. With more than 47% of our nation begging for their daily survival.
Why in the world would we encourage our children to go door-to-door to 'beg' for anything?

No, Sir, I taught my daughter to offer some form of labor to those who have worked harder than I, those who can then 'trickle down' those fun sized Butterfingers or Sweet Tarts, thats right, I make her drag their trash to the curb or rake their leaves, maybe wash their car.

Than the 47% should be right at home going up to people with their hand out, and doing nothing for it.

I don't get this scheduled trick or treating.  I certainly don't get calling it beggars night.

Where I grew up Halloween was Oct 31...and when it got dark outside you went out trick or treating to get as much candy as you could.  It was always cold....sometimes wet...even snow sometimes but it was never scheduled by the town or anyone else....it was halloween.

I guess this is my "I used to walk a mile up hill to school both ways" moment...but for real kids today are way too babied.

if you don't want your kids out in the weather...then don't take them out.

CM,
This is Southwest Ohio. Its called Beggars night.

Lest you forget that Children are like the Elderly and the people who work at low wage jobs, are, Non Producers. Therefore anything that I give them, through my toil, they have "Begged" for. Whether it be candy, or the twenty years past the limit of what they paid into Social Security. It is our job, as those who work, to remind everyone who earns less than we do, that they are worthless, bottom feeding, canal water drinking Socialistic scum of the earth. And that if it were not for me, (begin pounding chest, and playing Lee Greenwood here) you would have nothing in this world.

Oh, a-hem, sorry little guy. Do you want two twix and one snicker, or two snicker and one twix?
