From Sept 9 Council Meeting

Mr. Black brought up for discussion increasing the speed limit on Macready Avenue from 25 to
35 between Sands Avenue and Heritage Green Drive. It was agreed that the residents on that
street would be contacted for their input.

Lots of kids live on this street, if you want to drive faster why not cut over to 63? Lets increase speed limit in all neighborhoods to 35 also?

lets risk kids lives so we can get to Kroger faster, and you represent us in some kind of official capacity?

I used to live on Macready, right in front of the speed limit sign. That would be the extent of my official capacity.

Yes. Yes I do.

The speed limit was previously, and always had been, 35 MPH before 2007.
As a point of comparison, Britton Lane is 35 MPH, with less setback, more blind spots, higher number of houses, and a retirement village.

I have kids that try and play in our front yard and go to school to ride bikes. Its very dangerous for them with all the traffic and disregard from drivers. Let me drive 35 in some of monroes other neighborhoods and I might agree

The speed limit was changed from 35 to 25 in 2007. That is a true statement.

Blow off school busses? Really lots of people do that? I have never seen that anywhere.

How is Macready any different than Lebanon Street which is 35?

I left Wings and Rings this past weekend around 9pm, and did 80 up Macready. I probably should not have been driving though. I vote raise it to 80!

Are you recommending lowering the speed limit to 25 on Britton, Lebanon, Garver, and the residential potions of Todhunter as well?

im sorry mr beagle, but it happens quite often. increasing speed limit would only make things worse. Ask bus drivers that do this route, im sure you know who they are.

No. These are all apples. Every single street that I mentioned have the exact same concerns that you posted (minus the "school zone" but that's already enforced)

What makes your kids on Macready and more important than the kids on the streets that I've listed. If there is concern for human life due to a speed limit; should the same not be shared for all of the children of Monroe?

I think what you are asking for (and what was achieved at one time) was 'special treatment'. That's not something I've ever been interested in supporting.
