As we pulled into our driveway at 3:05 we heard 3 short whoops and then a barely audible (near Todhunter) voice making some kind of announcement. THAT is our warning of impending severe weather???? Had we been inside we might not have even heard the "whoops"!!! Had there been impending danger, we would have no real warning. Who can I notify about this DIS-service to citizens of Monroe?? ( those more than 2 miles from warning system)

I have been out side since 1:30. I live on Deneen. I'm not dead. I had no advance warning of my impending death. Who do I need to call?

Why should the local government be saddled with the responsibility of looking out for me when storms roll in??

You're not going to believe this but..... some folks don't have a smartphone.

Yes, I am one of "those folks". However I do have access to The Weather Channel-Monroe on my PC which I immediately accessed and there was NO weather alert for Monroe. That made me MORE anxious about the Monroe "voice announcement" that I could not hear. I do not want the "government" to "take care of me". However, if the city of Monroe (as well as thousands of cities) has weather warning sirens/voice announcements, they should be audible for ALL citizens.

How kind of you to dismiss older, poorer, "non-smarty-pants" phone owners so contemptuously!!

No hearing aid needed per last test. But thanks for the concern and tip. I'll keep that in mind in case of future need.
