Usually the City of Monroe council makes some great decisions but NOT in the recent move of naming a street in honor of the former owner of the LeSourdsville/Americana and Fantasy Farm. The city has caved in to naming a street after the "donor" because it was a great thing to do. Jerry let the park fall into ruin. He had a chance to sell the park at least one time to an established park operator and then gave up hope of ever opening the park. It remained an eyesore in the City of Monroe from the mid 200's to the present - the result is a street being named after the donor. Ironically, the street will feed directly into what used to be the park and controlled by the City of Monroe while the street itself will sit on property that was sold to Butler Tech. The City of Monroe missed the call on this one - they could have held a city-wide contest to name the street and take advantage of the positives that have been happening with the property lately. - Dave Grant via Facebook

Would have been nice to name it after the founder of LeSourdsville Lake-but who wants to keep trying to remember how to spell Edgar Streifthau all the time?

Was naming the street after Couch actually part of the agreement for the transfer of property or was the City just feeling grateful?

A shame it wasn't named after the people who actually put that area on the map.
Shows you how little care is given to the history of this area.
Kind of makes sense why the area just to the north is called Tall Oaks and there's not a single tree in the whole neighborhood.
