Where is everyone that used to post on the "old" site? It just seems like ever since the "new" site was implemented alot of the usual people quit posting. Anyone else sense this?

Well I can tell you that I don't visit as much as I used to since we have a problem with cyberstalkers.

Cyberstalking is the use of the Internet or other electronic means to stalk or harass an individual, a group of individuals, or an organization. It may include the making of false accusations or statements of fact. Cyberstalking shares important characteristics with offline stalking. Many stalkers - online or off - are motivated by a desire to control their victims or just be outright nasty.

This can change. I would like to see a more friendly decorum among members. It's ok to disagree but do so respectfully. Pounding home the same message over and over (such as drag racing on 63) is just driving away my favorite posters. Two longtime posters have quit recently due to this very problem.

Can't we just all get along?

I guess I don't pay as much attention as I should.  I had no idea about any cyberstalking.  That doesn't sound good at all.....

I completely agree about the nastiness that goes on in here.  I have almost been completely sucked in a couple of times, and have had to make myself "walk away".  I apologize, if anything that I have ever posted falls under the category.

John,
Since it is your site - can you not get rid of the problem posters? Or is there no way to block them?
Just curious..

Sure I can get rid of posters but that is counter to the goal of any site. The problem is where do you draw the line?

Over the past 12 years posters have come and gone. I have tried to provide a place for like minded Monroe people to meet, greet and in some cases become friends.

Going forward this holiday season I am asking for peace on earth and in our community.

John, you are correct. We should rise together as a community and at least be civil to each other. Disagreements will happen, but it's how you respond to them that matters. I'll back this 100% and apologize for my previous behavior that has been antagonistic.

Thanks ....

Here's hoping for a return to civil conversation among friends, acquaintances and new people.

I always found that the elections made the Voice much more testy and I'm sure I did nothing to make it much better this year (though in my defense, most of my antagonistic remarks are of the sarcastic type rather than personal name calling etc).

I do remember quitting the voice for about a year and a half after the 2004 election though. I think it's gotten much better around election time since then.

ha cyber stalking?

You mean like someone just releasing personal information without your consent.

Not you can't mean that can you; because it happened to me and I'm still here.

I think I've been pretty civil since my return but maybe not.  Either way...I'm no cyber stalker....that's for damn sure.

Right   I'm the problem.

It's not the bullies or rule breakers at all.

You don't realizing when you are bullying people. Here is a good example where you should just leave it alone.

Now that is the case in a nutshell.  He just doesn't recognize that he is a bully.  He thinks he is being witty and to the point when he harangues others and absolutely does not know when to quit.

and you don't call things down the middle.  If you did I wouldn't have had to say anything.  In fact if you had handled that situation properly it wouldn't have been a big deal at all.

I emailed you right after my personal info was released.  You did NOTHING for about a week and only after others had made quite a big about it.  it was only then that the post was edited.

Please do forgive me if I am not going to speak up while you blame "cyber stalkers" for the posters who left.  If anyone was cyber stalked it was me, you allowed for it to happen and I'm still here.  That was my only point.   I can only imagine how the situation would have been handled had I been the violator; I'm sure it would have been consistent right?

I've never harassed anyone here.  Not for one second.

I've been bullied far worse than I ever gave out here.  Perhaps it's you and your friends that need to look in the mirror for once?

Cm, you and I have had our share of differences. I forgave you and hopefully you have forgiven me. I also have tried to change the way I post as to not make it seem so hostile. That is the bad thing about communicating via electronic exchange. You cannot see a person's body language which adds to the dialogue. Some one may be cracking a joke and it can be taken as an insult. My wife and her best friend sometimes get into the wierdest arguements over a piece of text that was taken the wrong way. May everyone have a wonderful Thanksgiving and I know I will be giving thanks for the wonderful family I have here and at home.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and everyone else MFD

I don't have any ill will toward anyone here; no matter the disagreements we have had or not.
