if he wants people to stop watching television he should stop making it.
if it's such a bad thing then he should have a problem profiting from it. |

TOTALLY agree. I do not (have not) watched this show because initially I was appalled that a (seemingly) pre-teen) was in a really tawdry show. Subsequently, we have (as senior/"old fuddy-duddies") seen promos for this show that IN OUR OPINION were way beyond the pale of good taste. He should opt out of his contract if he is offended by what the scripts require of him.

Yes, the show is filthy. But I still enjoy it---I think the reruns are better than the new---but if someone doesn't like it or want it in their home, that is what the remote is for. It is an adult show.
It is certainly not for children, and I always did wonder why the boy's parents let him do the show when he was little, but that is their business. And making 350,000K an episode probably lessens the "filth" to them. I find it interesting that he is blasting the show while still acting on it! To each their own.

That's an interesting story to be sure.. and I agree you have to wonder why if he does not want to be on it, is he?

I must agree, leaving would send a more sincere message, and separate rhetoric from true beliefs! However, being suspicious by my nature, this whole show circus revolves around totally bazaar behavior that could have endless angles but only one that truly makes sense! I never watched an episode until after Charlie became a winning tiger to see what the fuss was all about!
Western culture and behavior is the primary driver as to why fundamentalist Islam think we are beyond salvage and the only solution is to kill us all!

I agree with the crowd. If he feels so strongly, just stop. It sounds as if his convictions end where the money begins.
But, in the same token, how many overweight or obese preachers and pastors are there? They preach against sin every Sunday. Is gluttony not a sin? Often times in life it's much easier to say things than to do things.

Here is the crux of the issue. He is under contract. He only recently began practicing any kind of spirituality and has been trying to figure things out on his own. It's not that he doesn't appreciate the opportunity or those who he works with and for, just that he now finds the content of the story "filth". If he were to back out now he'd get sued and have all that legal trouble that he doesn't need so he probably will finish out this contract and then be done. I'm not sure how much longer that should will be on anyway. And vegas, just because someone is overweight or obese doesn't mean they are gluttons. Some people eat regular portions and just don't exercise, have a slower matabolism, or have medical issues that cause them to be that way. Please don't judge others based on appearence, it's not fair to do so when you don't know their specific situation.

Not judging at all. You missed the whole point of my post. The point is that we ALL say things or speak out against things and at some point we probably do those very things we speak out against. We're human and we're not perfect. I was throwing the gluttonous pastors (and not those who cannot legitimately help it) into that category just like I would throw myself into that category. How many times have I said something and then not followed through on that very thing? I can tell you it's a lot. The point of my post was that this kid is a human and not perfect and maybe he's still just learning and deciding what he believes in. We can't come down too hard on him for something we're all guilty of.

No problem at all. It's very hard to express voice inflection, sarcasm and any other emotion on these posts. I definitely see how things are misinterpreted. A lot of the disagreements on here could probably be blamed on semantics anyway.

I keep getting disappointing because I thought his initial critique was that it was a poorly written.

Latest report is that he will honor his current contract (legally needs to) and opt out after the current season's shooting ends. Fear not!!! Charlie Sheen has offered him a role on "Anger Management" (whatever that is??) :)
