After a more than two-hour session, city council declared Cincinnati to be a sanctuary city Wednesday.

The resolution was passed with six in favor and two opposed. Charlie Winburn and Amy Murray opposed the measure. Chris Smitherman was absent

Under "sanctuary city" status, local law enforcement won't enforce federal immigration laws against people illegally in the country.

"Making Cincinnati a so-called sanctuary city creates an undue burden on our law enforcement officers," Winburn said Tuesday. "Instead of dealing with our own crime in Cincinnati, and we've got plenty of it in Cincinnati, we will be arresting and releasing illegal immigrants back into our communities."
The privilege of a lifetime is being who you are.

I am so glad that we moved from Cincinnati to Monroe almost 12 years ago.
My brother lives in Dayton and he thinks Dayton is a sanctuary city also.

Illegal immigration could be ended tomorrow.
Fine companies $100,000 per occurrence for each employee that is illegal.

Meat processing and packaging facilities would empty in less than 24 hours.
Grounds maintenance companies would fold before Friday.
Home builders would be left in the lurch day one.

Simple solution.

Dawg, that's not going to happen. As long as Sherriff Jones rounds up a few "illegals " everyone is happy. No way anyone will penalize the company's hiring practices. Republicans just make talk thinking you and I will be satisfied with a few deportations. Let's face it we need this type of low wage worker. I enjoy my lettuce and radishes.

White House ignored federal court orders for Don's immigration ban. A few cities ignore Don's sanctuary city status. So who is more defiant ?
