The new enforced ‘No Texting and Driving’ law is now strictly enforced across Ohio. It’s no joke to be caught using your phone at the wheel while driving. Many people still disregard the law and continue to use cellphones to send out a quick text at the wheel. But do you really know the consequences if you do get pulled over? The Monroe Police Department has put the law in effect for the county and have been watching out for drivers who fiddle with any hand held electronic devices while operating a motorized vehicle. Since then, texting while driving is seen as a secondary offensive for any driver 18 or over. That means if you are speeding or are driving under the influence (DUI/OVI), you may get pulled over as a first offense. Keep in mind, receiving a first offense for an OVI conviction can result in serious minimum fees of $375 and can go up to $1,075.
