Trump makes history: he has one-party control over the House, the Senate and the White House during a government shutdown. Federal employees are being furloughed, and all of this is happening on his first anniversary. What a kick in the sack for Don!

That’s not fair. Mr Trumps various golf courses, country clubs, vineyards and sweat shops couldn’t run with out them.

My previous post was last year on January 23, 2018. This is when I said Don’s “lockout “ was to be continued. Well, here we are a year later. He’s already beaten ‘Lying Raphael’ Cruz’s 16 day shutdown of 2013. He only needs 2 more days to beat Bill Clinton’s 1996 21 day record! This has aged like a fine cheddar cheese. 🤓

Basser's original post has indeed "aged well" although I will dispute the cheddar cheese.  The aroma of this entire Administration smells more like a limburger stench.

Unfortunately, the shutdown of the shutdown was not initiated due to the hardships of the 800,000 furloughed federal workers. The airline industry brought the shutdown down. The impetus was tens of billions of lost dollars due to lack of air traffic controllers. Only because the corporations felt the pain from the pinch of the shutdown. After a three week reprieve we may yet see another shutdown. In the next round, Don threatens to use the much overused National Emergency Act to reallocate our money to build his wall. Eventually the political party pendulum will swing, opening the door for even more abuse of the overused National Emergency Act. For example, needed infrastructure improvements are declared an emergency, or healthcare for all is declared an emergency. Don’s emergency will put us up to 32 active ones. If we continue running our government this way, and this becomes the norm, why would we even need a legislative branch of government? I imagine Mitch McConnell’s wattle is wiggling right now!
