Yes to all above
Do you know the meaning of "pointless" (as in-posting to a small town forum about political issues is pointless)

It pretty much is pointless.

All most people want here is to hear reaffirmation of the way they already think.

If they hear someone or something from the opposite end it often goes down the proverbial toilet fast.

couple that with the fact that as clark says it really doesn't matter.

At the end of the day, it matters very little who wins this election.

Yes to all.
This is not the only place where it is NOT being discussed. The MSM is not talking about anything that could hinder Obama's chances of winning. It is truly a national disgrace what is happening in this country with the news media. No wonder the electorate behaves as if everything is fine. We have a complete tyrant in the white house, and he could get re-elected! Does not bode well at all for the long, or short term future of this country! It also disproves the myth that you can fool most of the people, all of the time!

Sadly agree. If my mom taught me anything she taught me that very verse. I heard it a thousand times growing up. Guess one more time won't kill me. LOL

I think a lot of that is because your right and wrong might be different than my right and wrong.  Who gets to determine what is truly right and wrong?  If the whole country was Christian, then we could use the bible (and probably fight over translations) but this isn't a Christian country.  This is a freedom of religion country.  Which also means a freedom from religion if someone so chooses.    But we all get the same amount of input and voting power.  So fence-riding is probably a result of trying to take into account everyone's beliefs and freedoms, not just Christians'.

I mean no offense to you or your beliefs, MFD50.  But just like you believe 100% that your beliefs are right, so do the people with different beliefs.

I think what MFD50 actually meant was that most people are afraid to take a stand for anything for themselves, because they're afraid their beliefs will offend someone else.   So, instead of standing up for their own beliefs, they take the middle road (aka a fence rider), and try to be politically correct on every issue.  For instance, if I say I don't believe in gay marriage, and I stand by that belief, I am accused of being intolerant, ignorant, etc.  For that reason, I could easily just have no opinion at all, and life would be a lot easier, since I wouldn't need to defend myself, to anyone.  So, vegasmayor is correct--fence-riding is most definitely about trying to take everyone else's beliefs into account.  That is exactly what is wrong with this country, today.  No one wants to stand up for what they believe in, because instead of just being allowed to have your own beliefs, there is always someone who is ready to beat the crap out of you (either verbally OR physically) for not agreeing with what they believe.

I totally understand what you're saying, Animal1993.

I guess it's all in how you look at our country.  My views, for instance are much more about us all being in this together.  More community oriented.  What's best for all of us as a whole.  The views you have described would be considered much more individualistic.  What's best for me or what do I believe.  Not saying either is more right or more wrong, but they are definitely different ways of seeing things.

And pretty much the point of my post. I believe everyone has a right to believe in God or whatever they want to believe in. Even God gave us a choice to do just that. Only He will judge us in the end. But our country is being torn from within and the Bible even tells us that a house divided will not stand. I know we all believe differently. Even the Christian churches have different beliefs. But as a country we must stand as a unit.

I have another problem. Why do all the political parites call phones that are listed on the "Do Not Call List"? Are they exempt? No! So how are we going to trust them to follow the laws after the election if they don't do it before the election?

I guess I just don't see how we're being torn apart? Even in the heart of a nasty election season you see R's and D's working together to help Sandy victims.

Besides, looking back in history, I don't think we're anymore divided now than at many other times. In fact, we're much closer and calmer now than we were than say the first 150 years of our country (and probably even further than that)
