So Sony and movie theaters won't show a movie because they're scared of North Korea. Really? We're going to let North Korean "terrorists" decide what we will and will not show in our theaters?

I agree, Matt. I am so tired of terrorist threats and bully tactics. I say, show the daygone movie and let people see it.

I am of the age--over 60--who sees things in a different light. I have no use for wimpy, milk toast people who want to make nice with those who want to kill us.

We said the Pledge of Allegiance in school every day and it was followed with a prayer..... 12 years of Catholic education and I never had a regret.

I was raised with full appreciation of Church and State....although separate, still together.

Sony is a bunch of softies

Whats next Disney will cancel the next princess movie, because some stripper named princess threatens to blow up a check into cash joint.

The theaters were the first to cave before you want to go and put it on Sony.

I understand the caution, but seriously?

You have DHS saying its a BS threat,

and we're talking about north korea here.

I understand why the theatres decided to not premier the movie, to protect the other movies from losing audience. No one wants to go to a theatre that may be a bombing target.

This type of vague threat has got to be horrible for the theatre owners. As for Sony, I think they ought to put the most offensive scenes on the internet for all North Koreans and the world to see.

The horse is out of the barn! It won't take the N K government to wreck havoc on a theater showing the movie. Any nutcase with few or no ties to NK can do it. And if a theater showing the movie is targeted, there would be a huge public outcry about the "irresponsiblity" of the owners of the theater.

You think North Koreans have access to the internet and would be able to get to that?

LOL

Sarcasticly: We're talking Hollywood here - NOT America!!

Realistically: As someone mentioned, Theater owners did not want to put patrons and property at risk.

Had they done so and some sort of "attack" took place, said theater owners would be roundly castigated as being short sighted and putting lives at risk "for profit". Can't win for losing! (old saying)

How about you choose the risk of going to the movie knowing what might happen if you do.

Never mind we need to be told what to do.

I hope Sony at least puts it online or fnc plays it one night

so you want a theatre owner to put a movie in his theaters that the general public might fear going to see but will most likely also keep patrons from going to your theater and seeing other titles that have nothing to do with this?

You wouldn't own a movie theater very long.

This threat was not credible, and they knew that.

Oh so we are back to living like we did on 9-11 where we fear everything.

It's great to see America be bullied around by a bunch of computer nerds.

That's a good point John - I hadn't even considered the impact on other movies.

Oh they do.

I was more referring to Joe Public.

they can't see anything that isn't what they are told to see.

Watch Vice visits North Korea.  It's an eye opener

That little cynical whisper keeps getting louder, deep down. "Free Publicity"

None of the so called hacks released any real damaging information about Sony as a corporation.
They all amounted to interoffice email between the big wigs when they were complaining about the talent. So what?

The longer this goes on, the less I believe this was anything but an elaborate ploy.

I don't buy it hounddog.

if they were releasing in theatres it would be one thing but they aren't.

this thing is going to leak (the ending already has) and Sony will never make their $$ when it does.

They aren't going to make their money back in DVD sales once it hits bit torrent.  It's over.

I may be WAY off base here, but I personally am far less concerned about the little piss ant in NK than I am about the current state of race relations in the U.S.

I too don't care too much about what's going on.

I'm actually one of those in the minority that would genuinely like to visit NK and see it firsthand.

I can't even imagine....

That's an awful lot of bad publicity that movie theaters and a studio would be willing to take for a stunt.
