Hmm that map of Ohio is basically showing me that where most people live and work, those areas vote Democrat right?
If it was that easy to buy an election, wouldn't you think one of the richest guys to run for President would have been able to buy it?

I see inner city where poor people live. I work there and happily get in my car and drive home.

Nope. Live-yes. Work some do, but I'll bet Romney carried working people at least 2-1. Millions won't buy an election. It takes the trillions Democrats have spent to buy an election. Democratic party =25% who want stuff. 25% whom are willing to give it to them!

Wow, with that much money to spend, you'd think they would be fighting not to raise taxes on the rich. That or Bill Kristol might be on to something. http://www.businessinsider.com/bill-kristol-taxes-millionaires-republicans-obama-boehner-fiscal-cliff-2012-11 |

![]() In general, our inner city can have enough 'critical mass' to win a presidential election. The inner city dweller are now the voice of American presidential elections. Historically it was the rich who most greatly influenced presidential politics. Not any more, its the poor recipient class. I hope some day the voice will come from the middle class. Just like home.

Luckily there are things called exit polls! http://www.foxnews.com/politics/elections/2012-exit-poll/OH/President Still want to make that bet about Romney carrying the working people 2-1 I'm also not quite sure that the Dems have spent more money than the Repubs. The message wasn't well received. The fundamentals of America favored a slight Obama win. Political scientists correct predicted the outcome of the election within a TENTH of a percentage point back in JUNE. (http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/wonkblog/wp/2012/11/12/the-post-election-honor-roll/ third bullet point) Those billions of dollars by both parties and candidates were probably not the most well spent monies, at least not for a return on the dollar. A lot changed between 2004 and 2008. A lot will change between 2012 and 2016. Republicans will probably (hopefully for their sake) change their message a bit and try to appeal to a changing demographic. They could easily win. It's highly unlikely that any of these elections are "game changers" or "re-aligning elections". America will be fine and will continue going back and forth between Libs and Cons. It should be a little bit concerning to Republicans though that you've won the popular vote once since 1988. Who was the last republican to get over 300 electoral votes? I don't think it means that the party is necessarily in trouble, but obviously something needs to change (here's a hint though, I doubt it is going to mean that you need MORE conservative candidates)

Yes, the exit polls truly reflected the intelligence of the Democrat voter! 70% blamed Bush. A lot of single women worried about Romney taking their birth control.
Check your 401K in January? No, compare it now to a week ago, and tell me how right you were. Elections have consequences! Unfortunately, we all must abide and suffer. Or do we?

I think this is all just arm chair hyperbole but I think it just really boils down to this. If the Republican party would just put up a candidate that people can honestly like; they'll win.
There were a thousand ways to make Romney appear more likable to the swing voters; unfortunately they took advantage of none of it. Find me another Reagan and you'll have 8 years of Republican control of the White House.

To win now you must carry the non white vote.
Like the exit polls from above showed.

Hmm since I voted for Obama and just recently bought a new phone, can I just send the bill to the White House? Is that how this works?
I don't think it's just likability though Doc, there's a lot of other reasons too (obviously and I know you know this). Also, should point out that we can pretend that all of the people who voted for Obama were poor, minority and inner city but that's just continuing to ignore the reality. Once Republicans fully admit where the problems are, then they'll be able to adjust and win elections. I wouldn't be surprised if in 2016 we had a Republican president. Unless Hilary runs, then I think she's got it.

Castro vs. Rubio.
Winner gets to rule 49 states (unless PR has statehood by then). Loser gets to rule the United State of Texas.

This is a new conservative talking point that I've seen pop up lately, and I think you can equate it to just being a sore loser. Luckily there is the other 50% of the country that in no way is looking to get "stuff" including the top 1% of the income earners. |

I like this talking point:
Only in America could the rich people who pay 86% of all income taxes be accused of not paying their "fair share" by people who don't pay any income taxes at all.

Why is it important that you "like" the guy? Why not selecting by experience and record?
Not being confrontational, just am really interested in the "like" factor for people?

I agree. When you take in the total package of a Mitt Romney, he could be the best Presidential candidate in my lifetime. But offering nothing, and promising nothing, and running over a billion dollars worth of negative ads, that are misleading at best, and total unquestioned lies for the most part, the mentality and ideology of the voter comes to the surface and wins out as was shown last week. I don't believe it even possible to overcome, under any circumstance or situation, wanting to do what has to be done to fix this country, vs. only promising and charging more of the same old same old. We are a nation of children being asked what we want for Christmas! The fiscal cliff that the news media concentrates on, is nothing more than a diversion of the iceberg beneath the water, that is ignored for the most part. We are steaming full speed ahead straight at it without so much as a thought of changing course!
